Data related to salary structure of five individuals of different organizations in March

Individual Basic salary (in Rs.) Total allowance (in Rs.) Total deduction (in Rs.) Net salary (in Rs.)
Praveen 21800 28600 - -
Anuj - - 4350 25850
Ram 10400 12400 2800 20000

II. Net Salary = Basic Salary + Total Allowance – Total Deduction

III. A few values are missing in the table (indicated by -). A candidate is expected to calculate the missing value, if it required
to answer the given question on the basis of the given data and information.
1
If other deductions of Praveen was Rs. 4720, what was his net salary?
» Explain it
B
Net salary = Basic salary + total allowance – total deduction

Total deduction = PF deduction (10% of basic salary) + other deductions = 10% of 21800 + 4720 = 2180 + 4720 = Rs. 6900

Net salary = 21800 + 28600 – 6900 = Rs. 43500

Hence, option (B) is correct.
2
If Anuj’s total allowance was Rs. 3000 more than his basic salary, what was his total allowance?
» Explain it
D
let the basic salary of Anuj be Rs. x.

Total allowance of Anuj is Rs. (x + 3000).

Net salary = Basic salary + Total allowance – Total deduction

Or, 25850 = x + x + 3000 – 4350 or, 2x = 27200

∴ x =  27200  = Rs.13600
2

∴ Total allowance of Anuj = 13600 + 3000 = Rs. 16600

Hence, option (D) is correct.

3
If the ratio of Provident Fund deduction to Other deductions of Shivam was 7 : 13, what was Shivam’s Other deductions?
» Explain it
B
Let the PF deduction and other deductions of Shivam be Rs. 7x and 13x respectively.

Then, 10% of 11200 = PF deduction

Or, PF deduction = Rs. 1120

∴ Other deductions of Shivam =  13  × 1120 = Rs. 2080
7

Hence, option (B) is correct.

4
Basic salary of Shivam is what per cent more than that of Ram's basic salary?
» Explain it
E
Basic salary of Shivam is Rs. 11200, Basic salary of Ram is Rs. 10400.

Req% =  11200 – 10400  × 100
10400

⇒   800  ×  100% = 100 % = 7 9 %
10400 13 13

Hence, option (E) is correct.

5
If Other deductions of Tarun was Rs. 4000, what was his net salary?
» Explain it
E
Total deduction of Tarun = PF deduction + 4000

Let the basic salary of Tarun be Rs. x.

Then, 5700 = 10% of x + 4000

Or,  x  = 1700
10

∴ x = 17000

So, the basic salary of Tarun is Rs.17000

∴ Net salary = Rs.(17000 + 21600 – 5700) = Rs.(38600 – 5700) = Rs. 32900

Hence, option (E) is correct.
