The Life Insurance Corporation of India will release the notification for LIC AAO for the administrative officer exam for the scale-I officer cadre. The official notification consists of important details such as the  LIC AAO Syllabus and the LIC AAO Exam Pattern.

The LIC AAO exam is a three-stage recruitment process: prelims, mains, and interview. With 3 subjects in the prelims and 4 subjects for mains, going to be tested. LIC AAO Syllabus 2026

The LIC AAO syllabus consists of 3 subjects in prelims, i.e., quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, and English, where English is only qualifying in nature; the marks of English are not added in the final prelims score. Only marks of quant and reasoning are counted in the final prelims cutoff. 

As per the mains, the  LIC AAO Syllabus consists of an Objective Test (300 marks) & Descriptive Test (25 marks). The mains exam covers topics such as reasoning, english language, general awareness, data analysis and interpretation, and insurance and financial market awareness. Where each topic is designed to test the candidate's problem-solving ability,  language understanding, knowledge of current affairs, or awareness of the financial markets. Where descriptive tests evaluate candidates' writing skills.

As per the LIC AAO Exam Pattern 2026, the LIC conducts the AAO exam in 3 stages: prelims, mains, and interview. The prelims test is qualifying and does not add to the final score; the marks of the mains exam (only objective marks, descriptive is qualifying in nature) and interview marks are added to make the final merit list.

Note: as per the LIC AAO Exam Pattern, the total Preliminary exam paper is out of 100 marks, but the 30 marks for the English Language section are purely qualifying and excluded from the cutoff ranking.

According to the LIC AAO Exam Pattern 2026, the Preliminary round is a qualifying online screening test featuring individual sectional timings.

  • Mode: Online (Objective Multiple Choice Questions)

  • Total Duration: 60 Minutes ( 20 minutes allocated per section)

  • Negative Marking: None

  • Ranking Criteria: The English section is qualifying only. The final cut-off score is calculated solely from 70 marks (Reasoning + Quantitative Aptitude)

Shortlisted candidates from the prelims section must clear both the individual objective sections and the descriptive typing test in the Main round.

  • Structure: Objective Test (300 Marks) + Descriptive Test (25 Marks) administered back-to-back
