Key Factors Affecting the SSC CHSL Cut Off
Several factors affect the final SSC CHSL cut off, which changes each year based on administrative and performance-based factors. The Staff Selection Commission determines the final SSC CHSL Cut Off based on the following important factors.
Total Number of Vacancies: The number of vacancies changes each year, and it directly impacts the final SSC CHSL Cut Off. A lower number of vacancies drives the cut-off higher due to increased competition, whereas a larger number of vacancies can lead to a lower cut-off.
Number of Applicants: The overall registered candidates for the exam also dictates the overall competition level and, as a result, affects the cut-off score.
Difficulty Level of the Paper: The paper's difficulty level plays a major role. If a particular exam shift is tough, average scores fall, which lowers the cut-off. An easier paper results in higher average scores, which raises the cut-off.
Normalization Process: Since the Tier 1 exam is held across multiple shifts with varying difficulty levels, the SSC applies a statistical normalization formula. This process adjusts candidates' raw scores to ensure fairness, which directly alters the final cut-off calculations.
