SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2026
To participate in the recruitment process, candidates must satisfy the following criteria:
Nationality
A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement.
Age Limit
The standard age bracket is 18 to 27 years. For the 2026 cycle, candidates should typically be born between January 2, 1999, and January 1, 2008. Age relaxation applies as per government norms:
OBC: 3 years
SC/ST: 5 years
PwD: 10–15 years
Educational Qualification
For LDC/JSA/DEO: Must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized board.
For DEO Grade 'A' (Specific Depts): 12th Standard pass in the Science stream with Mathematics as a core subject.
How Many Attempts Are Allowed for Candidates in SSC CHSL?
There is no limit on how many times a candidate can take the SSC CHSL exam. If a candidate meets the age requirement and the other eligibility criteria, they can sit for the exam as many times as they want.
