SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2026

The SSC CHSL Exam is conducted in two stages, Tier I and Tier II. Tier I is qualifying in nature, and the scores of Tier II are used to prepare the final merit list.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

This exam is conducted online, and multiple-choice questions are asked. There are 4 sections in the exam with General Intelligence, General Awareness, Mathematics or Quantitative Aptitude, and English as subjects. SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL Skill Test 2026

Candidates applying for the Data Entry Operator (DEO) and DEO Grade ‘A’ posts have to appear for the SSC CHSL Skill Test. This test is conducted to check a candidate’s ability to type and enter data accurately within a time limit. It is qualifying in nature. Skill Test for DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ in Specific Departments or Ministries.

For certain departments, candidates need to have a typing speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour on a computer. The evaluation is based on how accurately the candidate enters the given passage.

Key details of the test:

  • Duration: 15 minutes
  • Typing requirement: Around 3700 to 4000 key depressions
  • Task: Candidates must type the provided English passage on the computer
  • The passage may be given as printed text or displayed on the computer screen

Skill Test for DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ in Other Departments

For most other departments, the required typing speed is slightly lower. Candidates must have a typing speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour.

Important details:

  • Duration: 15 minutes
  • Typing requirement: Approximately 2000 to 2200 key depressions
  • Task: Candidates type the provided English text into the computer system
  • The passage may be printed or shown on the computer screen
