1
In how many different ways letters of the word “EDUCATION” can be arranged such that all the consonants come together?
» Explain it
C
Number of consonants = 4

Consonants can be arranged among themselves in 4! Ways.

E, U, A, I, O and (DCTN) can be arranged in 6! Ways

Required number of ways = 6! × 4! = 720 × 24 = 17280

Hence, option C is correct.

2
The area of a square is equal to the area of a rectangle of length 28 cm and breadth 7 cm. Find the circumference of the circle whose diameter is equal to the side of the square.
» Explain it
B
Area of square = (side)2

And, Area of rectangle = 28 × 7 = 196 cm2

Now,

(side)2 = 196 cm2

∴ side of square = 14 cm

 = side of square = 14 = 7cm 2 2

⇒ Radius of circle = 7cm

We know that,

Circumference of circle = 2 π (Radius)

 = 2 × 22 × 7 7

= 44 cm

Hence, option B is correct.

3
Compound interest on a certain sum at the rate of 12% per annum after 2 years is Rs.142464. Find the simple interest on that sum at the rate of 15% per annum for 7 years.
» Explain it
A
We know that

 CI = P [ ( 1 + r ) 2 – 1 ] 100

 ⇒ 142464 = P [ ( 1 + 12 ) 2 – 1 ] 100

 ⇒ 142464 = P [ ( 1 + 3 ) 2 – 1 ] 25

 ⇒ 142464 = P [ ( 28 ) 2 – 1 ] 25

 ⇒ 142464 = P 784 – 625 625

 ⇒ P = 142464 × 625 159

⇒ P = Rs.560000
 SI = P × r × t 100

Hence,
 reqd. SI = 560000 × 15 × 7 = Rs.588000 100

Hence, option A is correct.

4
A bag contains 2 red, 5 green and 4 yellow balls. 4 balls are drawn at random, find the probability that out of four balls at least 3 balls are yellow.
» Explain it
C
Red = 2

Green = 5

Yellow = 4

Total = 11

 Reqd. probability = 4c3 × 7c1 + 4c4 11c4

 = 4 × 7 + 1 330

 = 29 330

Hence, option C is correct.

5
In a company there are 78000 employees out of which males and females are in the ratio 7 : 6. Out of the males 35% are working as HR and out of females 25% are working as HR. Find the total number of employees working as HR in the company.
» Explain it
D
Number of males in the company

 = 7 × 78000 = 42000 13

Number of males working as HR

 = 35 × 42000 = 14700 100

Number of females in the company
 = 6 × 78000 = 36000 13

Number of females working as HR

 = 25 × 36000 = 9000 100

Total number of employees working as HR = 14700 + 9000 = 23700

Hence, option D is correct.
