Vijayawada railway station, one of the busiest railway junctions in the country, has received Gold Rating by the Indian Green Building Council.

Council Chairman Meka Vijaya Sai presented the gold rating shield to Divisional Railway Manager R Dhananjayulu.

The IGBC-CII, with the support of the Environment Directorate of Indian Railways, developed the Green Railway Stations Rating System to facilitate adoption of green concepts, thereby reduce the adverse environmental impact due to station operation and maintenance and also enhance the overall commuter experience, a railway release said.

The rating system helps to address national priorities like water conservation, handling of waste, energy efficiency, reduced used of fossil fuel, lesser dependence on usage of virgin materials and health and well being of occupants, it said.

The DRM said that Vijayawada Railway Station was ranked fourth in the Indian Railways for cleanliness among A-1 category stations.

The station boasts of 100 per cent LED lighting,five star rated fans, pumps and motors and solar water heating systems.

The IGBC chairman asked the railways to improve green cover at the station from 22 to 50 per cent.

Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin and Maritime Patrol Aircraft CN-235 led by Cmde Dafit Santoso arrived at Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India for the Opening Ceremony of the 33rd edition of the India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) to be held from 19 Mar to 04 Apr 2019. His Excellarry Ambassador of Indonesia to India, Mr. Shidharto Raza Suryodipuro is also visiting Port Blair to attend the Opening Ceremony to be held at Port Blair from         20 - 21 Mar 19. The Indian delegation is led by the senior officer from the Indian Navy, Commodore Ashutosh Ridhorkar, VSM Naval Component Commander, Andaman and Nicobar Command.

The ship and aircraft from both the countries would undertake patrolling on the respective sides of 236 nautical miles long International Maritime Boundary line. The patrolling would be conducted in three phases from 22-31 March 2019. This will be followed by a Closing Ceremony at Belawan, Indonesia, which is scheduled from 01-04 April 2019.

The IND-INDO CORPAT Series of bilaterals seek to underscore India’s peaceful presence and solidarity with friendly Maritime neighbours countries toensure good order in the maritime domain, consolidate interoperability and strengthen existing bonds of friendship between India and Indonesia. During the stay in Port Blair harbour, various activities such as official calls, formal reception onboard ship, sporting fixtures between both navies, ship open to visitors and professional interactions have been planned.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla officially inaugurated the High-Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation (HLD-IPC) in Jakarta on 20 March 2019. At the inauguration, the Vice President emphasized the importance of Indo-Pacific region as the home to 3/5 global population with the total GNP of almost US$52 trillion, making stability and inclusive cooperation the determining factors for regional economic growth and welfare.

"The conducive regional architecture is an important aspect to grow a trustable character and encourage the cooperative spirit for the collective benefits," he explained.

The notion was the basis for the HLD-IPC as an attempt to reflect the synergy that is expected to boost concrete cooperation within the regional interaction in Indo-Pacific. The cooperation covers a number of fields such as maritime, infrastructures, and sustainable development to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for regional welfare.

The world happiness report for 2019 has put Finland on the top spot on the most happiest country for the second consecutive year. According to reports, Finland is the happiest country amongst 156 nations surveyed by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. India has dropped down seven spots in the happiness rankings as compared to its 2018 ranking. Times of India quoted the report saying with the increase in population, the overall happiness has dropped worldwide.

In 2018, India was placed on 133 position, but this year its ranking went down to 140. In 2015, India was on 117 spot, in 2016 it was ranked on 118 spot. The position went up to 122 in 2017, according to reports.

Various factors that determine the happiness levels of a country include life expectancy, social support, income, freedom, trust, health and generosity, amongst others.

The immediate neighbours of India including Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are way ahead in the happiness rankings. In this report, Pakistan stands at 67th rank, China at 93, Bhutan at 95, Nepal at 100, Bangladesh at 125 and Sri Lanka at 130, leaving India way behind.

1. Renowned Indian artist Haku Shah passes away at 85.

Renowned Indian artist Haku Shah, best known for his themes of tribal and folk art, passed away on Thursday following a cardiac arrest at his home in Ahmedabad. He was 85.

"He had been ill for sometime and was admitted in hospital for a week but we brought him back home. He had a cardiac arrest and passed at around 2.30 pm today," Shah's photographer son Parthiv told PTI.

Born on March 26, 1934, Shah did his Masters in Fine Art under renowned artists like K G Subrahmanyam. A large part of his work was deeply influenced by tribal art and culture, as well as the Bhakti movement, especially its Nirguna poetry.

Shah was also a cultural anthropologist. He carried out extensive field research and documentation on rural and tribal arts and crafts, traditions and folk lore, and established a tribal museum at Gujarat Vidyapith.

This simplified education structure will provide certification to develop Coaches from grassroots through to a high performance/ International level. The program consists of a combination of web-based modules and face-to-face interactive courses, underpinned by a competency based assessment process, states a Hockey India Press release.
