The state electricity department tied up with the HDFC Bank for online payment of electricity bills wherein consumers in Goa can pay their bills digitally using the additional payment gateway.

Consumers will have an option to make payments through various modes such as credit or debit card of any of the bank, net banking of around 40-odd banks by visiting the department’s website – www.goaelectricity.gov.in.

In case the consumers who do not wish to pay the bills through the online option, they can visit the nearby department’s centre and make payments using PoS machine by using credit or debit card of any of the bank powered by RuPay card or Visa or MasterCard.

The department’s partnership with HDFC Bank was launched by Power Minister Nilesh Cabral in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Cabral said that he has asked the HDFC Bank to come up with a machine similar to that of ATM wherein consumers can pay their bills round-the-clock as per their convenience.

The Goa government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) for setting up an information technology (IT) park at Dona Paula.
The MoU was signed at the Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019, which is underway at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigao.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the media that approximately 14,000 square metres of land will be given to the STPI at Dona Paula for creating a startup and IT industry promotion activities in the state.

STPI is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, New Delhi.

The Minister of State for Home, Shri G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the 20th All India Conference of Directors of Fingerprint Bureaus, being organised by NCRB, here today. The conference was attended among others by Director, NCRB, Shri Ram Phal Pawar, Joint Secretary (Women Safety) MHA Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava and senior police officers from central police organisations/ States/UTs.  Around 80 Fingerprint experts/delegates from across the country attended the inaugural function.

Addressing the gathering, the MoS, Shri Reddy highlighted the importance of fingerprints in crime investigation and appreciated the efforts of NCRB in rolling out the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), a network based pan India system for recording and sharing of fingerprints of criminals in various crimes. He also expressed satisfaction that Central Fingerprint Bureau in NCRB is following best practices in maintaining fingerprint records of criminals.

The Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (I/C), Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh today hailed the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana  as a unique and successful health insurance scheme launched by  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2018.

Addressing  the Asia Health-2019 conference in New Delhi today Dr. Jitendra Singh  said that  over 50 lakh people have benefited from  this scheme and the government is taking healthcare protection to a new aspirational  level.  It is the “world’s largest government funded healthcare program” targeting more than 50 crore beneficiaries, he added.

Dr. Jitendra Singh  suggested that in a heterogeneous  and  dynamic nation like India  the fundamental priorities  need to be considered  while  determining  the  spectrum of healthcare and disease. We can not copy the West or other countries of the world in this connection. Though we need qualitative and quantitative changes in the health care sector but we should always keep in mind the disease spectrum and trait of dynamism occurring  in  India.  He said that India is evolving state and the disease and healthcare spectrum should be determined according to it.

NITI Aayog with Institute for Competitiveness as the knowledge partner released the India Innovation Index (III) 2019. Karnataka is the most innovative major state in India. Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana, Haryana, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh form the remaining top ten major states respectively. The top ten major states are majorly concentrated in southern and western India. 1. India’s Adani awards rail contract to support Australian thermal coal mine.

India’s Adani Enterprises has awarded a contract to an Australian rail company as the conglomerate steps up infrastructure spending to support its new thermal coal mine in Queensland State.

The A$100 million ($68.30 million) contract was awarded to privately held Martinus Rail, based in the regional city of Rockhampton, Adani said in a statement.

Adani Mining Chief Executive Lucas Dow said more than A$450 million worth of contracts had already been awarded on the Carmichael Project, the majority to regional Queensland areas.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved a proposal for admission of girls in Sainik schools across the country for academic session 2021-22, in a phased manner. According to a media statement, the decision was taken following the success of a pilot project initiated by the Defence Ministry for admission of girl children in Sainik School Chhingchhip in Mizoram two years ago.

The Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (I/C), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that we have been able to fulfil the vision of Homi Bhabha. He added that Homi Bhabha had then said that India’s nuclear power will be for peaceful purposes. The Government has diversified the applications of nuclear energy in various social fields. He was speaking at the inauguration of 11th Nuclear Energy Conclave, being held here today.

The Minister said that the Government has taken various steps to promote the scientific temper in the country, specially in the Department of Atomic Energy and Space. He said earlier the Atomic power plants were restricted in Southern India, now the Government is setting up the nuclear plants in other parts of the country. A nuclear plant is coming up in the Gorakhpur of Haryana, he added. He said that the Headquarters of both the departments are outside Delhi. To educate the students and general public about the applications of nuclear energy, a “Hall of Nuclear Energy” was opened in Pragati Maidan in Delhi and a similar Hall is being planned for the Department of Space, he added. Dr Jitendra Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, we have been able to achieve much in these fields in the last five years. He quoted various examples such as joint ventures in nuclear energy and increase in budget etc. He also spoke about the use of nuclear energy in the field of medicine, specially cancer care. He added that the Dr B.Borooah Cancer Institute in Guwahati has been affiliated to the Tata Memorial Centre for Cancer, Mumbai. The Minister said that DAE is also working towards the implementation of flagship programmes of the Government, with Tata Memorial Centre being the first to shift to cashless transactions.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries became the first firm in India to cross the Rs 9-lakh crore market capitalisation mark ahead of announcement of its Q2 earnings later today. The conglomerate was also the first to reach Rs 8 lakh crore market cap mark in August last year.

Reliance Industries' market capitalisation rose to Rs 9.03 lakh crore after the stock reached Rs 1,428, a fresh 52-week high. Reliance Industries share rose 2.28% to Rs 1,428 compared to the previous close of Rs 1,396.15 on BSE. The large cap stock opened at Rs 1,403.10. The stock has gained 5% in last five sessions.

Reliance Industries share is trading higher than 5-day, 20-day, 50-day, 100-day and 200-day moving averages. RIL share has gained 23.63%  during the last one year and gained 26.7% since the beginning of this year.
