The program is organized before Kharif and Rabi season each year with the help of State Governments.

Since the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) was launched 30 years ago, the incidence of polio has fallen significantly. Polio cases have dropped by 99.9%, from 350,000 cases in 1988 in 125 countries to 33 cases of wild poliovirus in 2018 in just two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Snow leopards, which live primarily in the mountainous regions of Central and Southern Asia, are extremely difficult to spot making it tough to accurately estimate their population. Globally, less than two per cent of snow leopard habitats have been sampled to assess their population.

The Indian saw off his Filipino opponent 2-1 in the men's sanda event of the 15th World Wushu Championships. Praveen had earlier defeated Uzbekistan's Khasan Ikromov 2-0 in the semi-final on Tuesday to set up the summit clash with Diaz.

In 2017, Pooja Kadian became the first Indian to be crowned world champion in wushu after she defeated Evgeniya Stepanova of Russia in the women's 75 kg sanda event.

Wushu sanda is a martial art that combines full-contact kickboxing, including close-range punches and kicks, with wrestling, takedowns, throws, sweeps and kick catches.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) has topped the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) India University Rankings 2020 released. Six other IITs have also made it to the list of top 10 institutes.

Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science has been ranked second followed by the IITs in Delhi, Madras, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee, and Guwahati. The University of Hyderabad (8) and the University of Delhi (7) are the only two central varsities among the top 10 institutes.

The QS has ranked the higher education institutions in India on the basis eight parameters of academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty-student ratio (20%), staff with PhD (10%), papers per faculty (10%), citation per paper (5%), international faculty (2.5%) and international students (2.5%). Calcutta University (CU) has secured the 11th spot in QS India Rankings 2020, topping among the state-run universities followed by Jadavpur University (JU) at 12.

The IT1 event is competed among ambulant athletes who have single or double below the knee amputation or substantial foot to knee damage.

The IT4 event is competed among wheelchair participants who have spinal cord injuries or similar impairment but with full trunk function.
