Mr. Rameswar hoped that the Park would benefit large scale of farmers and also can generate employment to thousands of youths which will ultimately boost the personal economy as well as the economy of the state.

Shri Pradhan met with Mr. Masayuki Hirose, Vice President, JFE Steel Corporation, Japan’s one of the largest Steel manufactures. JFE also has a strong research division involved in research and development of innovative technologies for the Steel industry in an environment friendly way. JFE has a long association with Indian Steel Sector and is keen to expand its presence in India. The Minister told JFE VP that India is one of the best investment destinations with a large market, rising demand and highly supportive business environment. The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) has conducted Whole Genome Sequencing of 1,008 Indians from different populations across the country. Announcing details of the IndiGen Genome project, the Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and Health & Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the whole genome data will be important for building the knowhow, baseline data and indigenous capacity in the emerging area of Precision Medicine. The outcomes of the IndiGen will have applications in a number of areas including predictive and preventive medicine with faster and efficient diagnosis of rare genetic diseases, he added.

The IndiGen initiative was undertaken by CSIR in April 2019, which was implemented by the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi and CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad. This has enabled benchmarking the scalability of genome sequencing and computational analysis at population scale in a defined timeline. The ability to decode the genetic blueprint of humans through whole genome sequencing will be a major driver for biomedical science.

3. Odisha inks LoU with UNICEF to provide safe drinking water.

The Odisha government has signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with UNICEF to provide safe drinking water to every household in the state. The LoU was signed by the state housing and urban development department (HUDD) to provide 24-hour safe drinking water and the project has been named as 'Drink From Tap Mission'.

The project will be launched on a pilot basis for about 1.2 lakh people involving 22,000 families in pockets of Puri and Khurda district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
