Directions: Read the following questions carefully and choose the right answer.
Important for :
1
From the following alternatives select the word which can’t be formed by using the letters of the word.

ESTRANGEMENT
» Explain it
C
As in the word ‘ESTRANGEMENT’ we have only two T's, we can't form ‘TREATMENT’ (which have three T's) using the letters of the given word.

Hence, option C is correct.
2
In a certain code, EAT is written as 318 and CHAIR is written as 24156. What will TEACHER be written as ?
» Explain it
C
It is a question of direct Letter to Number coding.

Letter   E A T C H I R
Code   3 1 8 2 4 5 6

The code for TEACHER will therefore be 8312436.

Hence, option C is correct.
3
If '+' means 'divided by', '-' means 'added to', '×' means 'subtracted from' and '÷' means 'multiplied by' then 24 ÷ 12 - 18 + 9 ?
» Explain it
D
24 ÷ 12 - 18 + 9 ?

After changing the signs and applying the rule of BODMAS, we get

⇒ 24 × 12 + 18 ÷ 9

= 288 + 2

= 290

Hence, option D is correct.
4
Find the missing number from the given alternatives.

  6     8     2     20
7 2 4 30
8 7 6 ?
5 5 9 50
» Explain it
A
In this formation, the first number in the first column is getting multiplied by the number in the third column and the resultant number is being added to the number in the second column to give the number in the fourth column.

First row 6 × 2 + 8 = 20,

Second row 7 × 4 + 2 = 30,

Fourth row 5 × 9 + 5 = 50

Therefore, third row 8 × 6 + 7 = 55,

Hence, option A is correct.
5
In a class of 45 students, Sohan is placed eighth from the bottom, whereas Mohan is placed tenth from the top. Rohan is placed exactly in between the two. What is Rohan's position from Mohan?
» Explain it
A
Number of students between Sohan and Mohan = 45  – ( 8 + 10 ) = 27

Clearly, there are 27 students between Sohan and Mohan. It's further given that Rohan's position is exactly between the two.

∴  Rohan's position =  Total no. of students between Sohan and Mohan + 1
                                         2

 =  27 + 1   = 14
    2

Therefore the number of students between Rohan and Mohan is 13, and on counting, Rohan's position will be 14th from Mohan.

So, Rohan's position is 14th from Mohan.

Hence, option A is correct.
