The SSC GD Notification is out, announcing 25487 vacancies to recruit General Duty Constables from all around the country. This is an important opportunity for 10th pass candidates who want to secure a position in the paramilitary forces like BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, AR, SSF, and NCB. SSC GD Age Limit & Relaxation

The SSC GD Age Limit is one of the important aspects of the SSC GD Eligibility criteria. Candidates who are interested in applying for this post must ensure that they fall within the prescribed age range mentioned in the official notification.

SSC GD Age Limit 2026 (as of 01/01/26)

The candidate must be 18 to 23 years old to be eligible for the SSC GD Recruitment. However, age relaxation is given to the candidates who belong to certain reserved categories.

SSC GD Age Relaxation 2026

Candidates belonging to the reserved categories can make use of the benefits of age relaxation as per the rules of the Government of India.

SSC GD Constable Nationality

To be eligible, a candidate must be:

  • An Indian citizen,
  • A Nepalese or Bhutanese citizen,
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1st January 1962, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, or Vietnam to settle permanently in India.

SSC GD Constable Educational Qualification

To apply for the SSC GD Recruitment, candidates must have passed the Matriculation (i.e., Class 10th) or an equivalent exam from a recognised board, University, or Institution.

SSC GD Constable 2026 Physical Efficiency Test 2026

Along with the written test, candidates also have to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test, where they will have to finish a race within a time limit. The tables given below discuss the details of the test for both male and female candidates:

The SSC GD role involves long hours of patrolling and other operational responsibilities, which is why there are some physical requirements that candidates have to meet in order to secure the position. This ensures that candidates are capable of handling the demanding duties of a General Duty Constable. The physical requirements have height and weight criteria.

SSC GD Eligibility for Medical Examination

After clearing PET and PST, candidates appear for the medical test. The medical standards include:

Candidate’s arms, legs, hands and feet should be properly developed with free joint movements.

Old Injuries

The candidate should not have any signs of old fractures or improperly healed injuries.

Joint Mobility

Candidate’s joints must move freely without any restriction.

Feet and Toes

Candidate’s feet and toes should be well-shaped and normally formed.

Congenital Defects

No visible congenital deformities or physical malformations.

General Health

No past medical condition that may affect overall physical fitness.

Teeth

Minimum 14 healthy teeth required for proper chewing.

Genitourinary Health

No visible disease related to the genitourinary system.

Scrotal and Inguinal Area

No swelling in the scrotum or inguinal region.

Testes (Male Candidates)

Testes must be of normal size and present in the scrotum.

Medical History

Past medical records will be reviewed for any serious illness or injury.
