SSC GD Previous Year Vacancy Trends
A total of 25,487 vacancies has been released for the post of General Duty Constable in 2026. The number of vacancies is lower than the previous three years’ vacancy count, due to revised force requirements. SSC GD Constable Exam Pattern 2026
The SSC GD Recruitment has four stages:
1. Written Test
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
3. Physical Standard Test (PST)
4. Medical Test
The SSC GD Exam include 4 sections with a total of 80 questions, which account for 160 marks. There is no sectional timing or sectional cut-off. However, there is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

A General Duty Constable receives a salary of Rs. 23,527 per month with the starting basic pay of Rs. 21,700. There are multiple promotion opportunities for a GD throughout their service and the maximum basic can go up to Rs. 69,100. The Sepoy in NCB gets paid according to Pay Level 1, with salary ranging between Rs. 18000 to 56900.

SSC GD 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the SSC GD Constable Recruitment includes nationality, education qualification and age limit. All the three are discussed in detailed below:
1. Nationality:
To be eligible, a candidate must be:
- An Indian citizen,
- A Nepalese or Bhutanese citizen,
- A Tibetan refugee, arrived in India before 1st January 1962, or
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, or Vietnam to settle permanently in India.
2. SSC GD Educational Qualification
To apply for the SSC GD Recruitment (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSF, SSB, and riflemen) candidates must have passed the Matriculation (i.e., Class 10th) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board, University, or Institution.
3. SSC GD Age Limit (as of 01/01/26)
The candidate must be 18 to 23 years old to be eligible for the SSC GD Recruitment. However, age relaxation is given to the candidates who belong to certain reserved categories
4.SSC GD Upper Age Relaxation
Candidates belonging to the reserved categories can make use of the benefits of age relaxation as per the rules of the Government of India.

2. On the homepage, find and click "Apply" button.
3. Register by entering these details: your name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number.
4. After registration, log in to your account using your Registration ID and password (your login credentials are emailed to your registered email ID).
5. Find the “SSC GD 2026” link and click on “Apply”
6. Enter your details like name, category, gender, nationality, educational details etc.
7. Choose your preferred exam centre from the list
8. Upload your photograph and signature (in JPEG format and in the specified size range).
9. Review the details you have filled in before submitting the form.
10. After review, pay the application fee through net banking, UPI, or debit/credit card.
11. Download your application form and save it along with the payment receipt for future reference.
