SoftBank Group Corp has decided to invest $60 billion-$100 billion in solar power generation in India, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported recently.

Japan's internet conglomerate and the Indian government are expected to reach a formal agreement soon after final arrangements are made, the report said without naming its sources.

The company is expected to make the investment through a fund backed by Saudi Arabia's government, NHK said. Saudi Arabia is the largest investor in SoftBank's Vision Fund, which raised over $93 billion last year.

The Odisha government on Wednesday signed an MoU with the USA based firm ''Earth Networks'' to install lightning detection system to minimize death toll through technological intervention.

OSDMA Managing Director Bishnupada Sethi signed the MoU with the Earth Networks in the presence of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty.

The government decided to sign the MoU as lightning has emerged as a major disaster during the recent times.

As many as 460 people were killed in lightning strike during 2017-18 a 15 per cent rise over the last year.

5. Smriti Mandhana is going to become first Indian cricketer to appear in England's Kia Super League.
