As part of India’s new energy sourcing strategy, the first Russian long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo arrived at the Dahej LNG terminal in Gujarat.

This 3.4 trillion British thermal unit (TBtu) of cargo followed the first US long-term LNG cargo from the Houston-based Cheniere Energy Inc that arrived in India in March.

Indian firms have inked long-term LNG contracts totalling 22 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa), with the country consuming 145 million standard cubic meters a day (mmscmd) of gas. India, the world’s fourth-largest LNG importer, has also been trying to leverage the glut in global LNG supplies to renegotiate its contracts.

These beaches of Odisha, Maharashtra and other coastal states will be the first in not just India, but in Asia, to get the Blue Flag certification.

The Indian beaches are being developed by the Society for Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM), an environment ministry’s body working for the management of coastal areas, according to the Blue Flag certification standards.

Over 250 members of the Indian community, led by Singapore's Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong joined the ceremony at the pier, which is now a heritage landmark in the Fullerton Hotel Complex.

The Prime Minister who was in Singapore on the last leg of his three-nation tour tweeted, "Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and I unveiled a plaque marking the site where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed at the Clifford Pier in Singapore".

The Odisha government launched a health insurance scheme for working journalists in the state. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the scheme, called "Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana".

In the first phase, as many as 3,233 working journalists will get health insurance coverage up to Rs 2 lakh a year. At least five members of the journalists family will be covered under the scheme, said an official statement.

The scribes will get their health insurance card from the District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) in their respective districts.

10. Andhra Pradesh has launched a Zero Based Natural Farming (ZBNF) scale-out scheme, aimed at benefitting around six million farmers by 2024.

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a Zero Based Natural Farming (ZBNF) scale-out scheme, aimed at benefitting around six million farmers by 2024.

The formal announcement of the scheme was made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The state agriculture department also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard, with the Sustainable India Finance Facility (SIFF), an initiative with the partnership of the United Nations Environment Program, the World Agroforestry Center, and the BNP Paribas.

The agreement aims at scaling up the ZBNF against investment worth Rs. 16,134 crores over the next six years.
