India is likely to discuss with Russia on supply of critical components for its human space capsule that would carry Indian cosmonauts to the space.

The two countries are expected to negotiate the contracts for supply of crew seats, windows and spacesuits for India's human space mission named Gaganyaan, said Russian state-run space corporation Roscosmos.

According to Roscosmos, a top level meeting between Russia and India is likely to be held during the Eastern Economic Forum from September 4 to 6 in Russia's Vladivostok.

Intel Corp. launched its latest processor, its first using artificial intelligence (AI), designed for large computing centres.

The chip, developed at its development facility in Haifa, Israel, is known as Nervana NNP-I or Springhill and is based on a 10 nanometre Ice Lake processor that will allow it to cope with high workloads using minimal amounts of energy, Intel said.

Intel said its first AI product comes after it had invested more than $120 million in three AI startups in Israel.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on August 22 said the government's plan to launch Bharatcraft portal, an e-commerce marketing platform, has the potential to achieve revenues of around Rs 10 lakh crore in the 2-3 years.

"The Bharatcraft portal, which will be on the lines of Alibaba and Amazon, will provide a platform for MSMEs to market and sell their products and in turn boost the sector," Gadkari said.

Speaking at 200th listing of an MSME company 'Wonder Fibromats' on NSE EMERGE, Gadkari said, "We want to give a boost to the MSME sector which is currently contributing nearly 29 percent to the manufacturing segment and 40 percent to the exports."

1. CVC sets up panel to examine frauds.

To examine bank fraud over `50 crore, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has constituted Advisory Board for Banking Frauds (ABBF) headed by former vigilance commissioner TM Bhasin.The advisory board will recommend actions in any fraud case and will periodically carry out frauds analysis in the financial system.Other members of the four member panel will include Madhusudan Prasad, former urban development secretary; DK Pathak, former DG, Border Security Force (BSF) and Suresh N Patel, former MD and CEO, Andhra Bank.
“The ABBF, formed in consultation with the RBI (Reserve Bank of India), would function as the first level of examination of all large fraud cases before recommendations or references are made to the investigative agencies by the respective public sector banks (PSBs),” the CVC said in an order dated August 22.
The board’s jurisdiction would be confined to cases involving the level of officers like general managers and above in PSBs in respect of an allegation of a fraud in a borrowal account. Lenders would refer all big fraud cases above `50 crore to the board and on receipt of its recommendation or advice, the bank concerned would take further action in such matter, it said.

Public sector lender Canara Bank has launched the first OTP facility for ATM withdrawals. In order to offer a more secured and safe system, Canara bank will activate OTP facility for cash withdrawals of Rs 10,000 or more in a day. In a tweet, the bank had announced, "We introduce India's First OTP facility for ATM withdrawals. Withdrawals in our ATMs now more secure for our card holders."
This move is in line with banks trying to take security measures to safeguard customers who use debit cards to withdraw cash at ATMs.
