Directions: Study the following questions carefully and answer the questions given below.
1
Two cars A and B, which are 500 km apart, start moving towards each other on a straight road at a certain point of time. The speed of car A is 57 km/hr and that of car B is 40 km/hr. After first hour car A which is moving from west to east takes a left turn, runs for 40 minutes and reaches point K whereas the other car which was moving from east to west, keeps running on the road till 1.5 hours and then takes a left turn, runs for half an hour and reaches point L. What is the difference between the vertical and horizontal distances between the two points K and L?
» Explain it
B

Distance covered by car P in 1 hour = 57 Km

Distance covered by car Q in 1.5 hours = 60 Km

Therefore, horizontal distance between points K and L = 500 – (57 + 60) = 383 Km

Distance covered by car P towards north = 57 x (2/3) = 38 Km

Distance covered by car Q towards south = 40 x (1/2) = 20 Km

Therefore, vertical distance between points K and L = 38 + 20 = 58 Km

Hence, the required difference = 383 – 58 = 325 Km

Option B is hence the correct answer.

Some boys are sitting in three rows and the distance between each row is 4 m. All of them are facing north such that Damu is in the middle row, Kanu is 6 m to the right of Damu but in the same row. Neer is just behind Kanu while Golu is in the North of Damu.

What is the shortest distance between Neer and Golu?
» Explain it
C
From the following figure we made using the given information we can say that the shortest distance between Neer and Golu is 10 m.

Hence, the correct answer is option C.
Common Explanation:

Reference:

Some boys are sitting in three rows and the distance between each row is 4 m.

Inference:

Using the above hints we can make a rough sketch of the three rows.
Reference:

All of them are facing north such that Damu is in the middle row Kanu is 6 m to the right of Damu but in the same row.

Inference:
With the help of above hints we can place of Damu and Kanu in the middle row facing north.
Here we will make a mental note of the information that all the persons were facing north.

Reference:

Neer is just behind Kanu while Golu is in the North of Damu.

Inference:

Using the above hints we can fix the position of Neer and Golu easily.
