Directions : Study the information carefully and answer the questions given beside.

The following table gives the percentage of marks obtained by six students viz. Monu, Tonu, Sonu, Swati, Babita and Reena in six subjects – Hindi, English, Mathematics, Computer, SST, and Science in Board Examination. The maximum marks for each subject is given along with the subject.

 Subject→ Student↓ Hindi (100) English (100) Mathematics (150) Computer (150) SST (100) Science (100) Monu 85 75 60 80 75 60 Tonu 80 90 72 70 75 65 Sonu 60 72 90 70 90 75 Swati 90 70 85 60 80 55 Babita 78 65 60 80 65 50 Reena 65 80 70 70 60 70
Important for :
1
What is the percentage of lowest marks scored in all the subject together to the highest marks scored in all the subject together?
» Explain it
B
Following the common explanation we get ;

Total marks of Monu in all the subject together = (85 + 75 + 90 + 120 + 75 + 60) = 505

Total marks of Tonu in all the subject together = (80 + 90 + 108 + 105 + 75 + 65) =523

Total marks of Sonu in all the subject together = (60 + 72 + 135 + 105 + 90 + 75) = 537

Total marks of Swati in all the subject together = (90 + 70 + 127.5 + 90 + 80 + 55) = 512.5

Total marks of Babita in all the subject together = (78 + 65 + 90 + 120 + 65 + 50) = 468

Total marks of Reena in all the subject together = (65 + 80 + 105 + 105 + 60 + 70) = 485

Highest marks scored in all the subject together by Sonu and marks = 537

Lowest marks scored in all the subject together by Babita and marks = 468

 Required percentage = 468 ×100 = 87.2% 537

Hence, option (B) is correct.

Common Explanation :

2
If marks of subject computer is not considered for the ranking, then which student would be ranked third?
» Explain it
B
Following the common explanation we get :
Total marks of Monu in all the subject together except Computer = (85 + 75 + 90 + 75 + 60) = 385

Total marks of Tonu in all the subject together except Computer = (80 + 90 + 108 + 75 + 65) = 418

Total marks of Sonu in all the subject together except Computer = (60 + 72 + 135 + 90 + 75) = 432

Total marks of Swati in all the subject together except Computer = (90 + 70 + 127.5 + 80 + 55) = 422.5

Total marks of Babita in all the subject together except Computer = (78 + 65 + 90 + 65 + 50) = 348

Total marks of Reena in all the subject together = (65 + 80 + 105 + 60 + 70) = 380

Thus, Tonu got rank third in this context.

Hence, option (B) is correct.

3
What is the percentage of total marks scored by the six students in Hindi and Mathematics combined together to the English and SST combined together?
» Explain it
D
Following the common explanation we get ;

Total marks scored by the six students in Hindi = (85 + 80 + 60 + 90 + 78 + 65) = 458

Total marks scored by the six students in Mathematics = (90 + 108 + 135 + 127.5 + 90 + 105) = 655.5

Total marks scored by the six students in English = (75 + 90 + 72 + 70 + 65 + 80) = 452

Total marks scored by the six students in SST = (75 + 75 + 90 + 80 + 65 + 60) = 445

Total marks scored by the six students in Hindi and Mathematics combined together = (458 + 655.5) = 1113.5

Total marks scored by the six students in English and SST combined together = (452 + 445) = 897

 Required percentage = 1113.5 × 100 = 124% 897

Hence, option (D) is correct.

Common Explanation :

 Subject→ Student↓ Marks scored in Hindi  (out of 100) Marks scored in English  (out of 100) Marks scored in Maths (out of 150) Marks scored in Computer (out of 150) Marks scored in SST (out of 100) Marks scored in Science (out of 100) Monu (100×85)/100 = 85 (100×75)/100 = 75 (150×60)/100 = 90 (150×80)/100 = 120 (100×75)/100 = 75 (100×60)/100 = 60 Tonu (100×80)/100 = 80 (100×90)/100 = 90 (150×72)/100 = 108 (150×70)/100 = 105 (100×75)/100 = 75 (100×65)/100 = 65 Sonu (100×60)/100 = 60 (100×72)/100 = 72 (150×90)/100 = 135 (150×70)/100 = 105 (100×90)/100 = 90 (100×75)/100 = 75 Swati (100×90)/100 = 90 (100×70)/100 = 70 (150×85)/100 = 127.5 (150×60)/100 = 90 (100×80)/100 = 80 (100×55)/100 = 55 Babita (100×78)/100 = 78 (100×65)/100 = 65 (150×60)/100 = 90 (150×80)/100 = 120 (100×65)/100 = 65 (100×50)/100 = 50 Reena (100×65)/100 = 65 (100×80)/100 = 80 (150×70)/100 = 105 (150×70)/100 = 105 (100×60)/100 = 60 (100×70)/100 = 70

4
What is the ratio of total scored of Monu and Swati in all the subject together to the total score of Sonu and Reena in all the subject together?
» Explain it
C
Following the common explanation we get ;

So, total scored of Monu and Swati in all the subject together = (505 + 512.5) = 1017.5

Also, the total score of Sonu and Reena in all the subject together = (537 + 485) = 1022

 Required ratio = 1017.5 × 100  = 2035 1022 2044

Hence, option (C) is correct.

Common Explanation :

5
After the scrutiny if the total marks of Sonu, Monu and Reena in all the subject have increased by 10%, 11% and 12% respectively and the total marks of Tonu, Swati and Babita in all the subject have decreased by 5%, 10% and 15% respectively then what is the difference in total marks to top two scorer to the last two scorer?
» Explain it
A
Following the common explanation we get ;

Total marks of Monu in all the subject together = (85 + 75 + 90 + 120 + 75 + 60) = 505

Total marks of Monu after increment = (505 × 1.11) = 560.55

Total marks of Tonu in all the subject together = (80 + 90 + 108 + 105 + 75 + 65) =523

Total marks of Tonu after decrement = (523 × 0.95) = 496.85

Total marks of Sonu in all the subject together = (60 + 72 + 135 + 105 + 90 + 75) = 537

Total marks of Sonu after increment = (537 × 1.10) = 590.7

Total marks of Swati in all the subject together = (90 + 70 + 127.5 + 90 + 80 + 55) = 512.5

Total marks of Swati after decrement= (512.5 × 0.90) = 461.25

Total marks of Babita in all the subject together = (78 + 65 + 90 + 120 + 65 + 50) = 468

Total marks of Babita after decrement = (468 × 0.85) = 397.8

Total marks of Reena in all the subject together = (65 + 80 + 105 + 105 + 60 + 70) = 485

Total marks of Reena after increment = (485 × 1.12) = 543.2

Sum of marks of top two scorer = (590.7 + 560.55) = 1151.25

Sum of marks of last two scorer = (397.8 + 461.25) = 859.05

Required difference = (1151.25 – 859.05) = 292.2

Hence, option (A) is correct.
